Frontier Mix (ABG variant) - 1 Gallon
Frontier Mix is our take on the classic ABG mix formula. Composed of clay, charcoal, orchid bark, peat, sphagnum moss and tree fern fiber Frontier Mix is the perfect substrate for high humidity and tropical terrariums as well as tropical house plants. Being soilless Frontier Mix can last years in a bioactive enclosure before needing to be topped off or replaced.
How much substrate do you need:
1 gallon of Frontier Mix will give an approximate depth of 2 inches per squarefoot. This would be the minimal depth we would recommend, prefering 3-4" of Frontier Mix per squarefoot.
To figure out your squarefootage take the length(inches) of your enclosure and multiply it by the width(inches) of your enclosure. Then divide this number by 144 to get your squarefootage. Don't forget to round up.
(L x W)÷144=sqft
This number will be how many gallons you will need to make a ~2" substrate layer.
